You may notice a very popular hashtag on Twitter every Friday called Follow Friday. It was started back in January 2009, but has thrived and continues to this day. When you first join Twitter, it can cause a little confusion. Log on to Twitter on a Friday and it may have you wondering, what does #FF mean anyway?
The hashtag #FF or #FollowFriday encourages and welcomes Twitter members to follow new people every week. It’s a shout out to those that you follow on Twitter, that you enjoy reading, maybe someone who has offered support or gives you great social media tips, wink, wink. It’s also a wonderful way to see who your friends suggest and find new people to follow.
It’s super simple to participate. Just load up a Tweet starting with the hashtag #FF. For maximum exposure, don’t start your tweet with an @name. You can group a bunch of twitter friends together or do one per tweet with the reason why people should follow them. Both are acceptable and both are much appreciated by all mentioned.
That’s it, easy peasy. No go and show your Twitter love today by posting your own #FF tweet. Have fun, make friends and be a Twitter superstar.
